THE INFORMATION SERVICES (IS) TEAM

The Information Services (IS) Team works to support members of the Proteus Fund core staff – a national, mostly remote team. This includes support to members of the team who are hybrid and are working out of the NYC Office (near Grand Central Station). The IS team’s work aims to ensure that Proteus Fund leverages technology to advance the organization’s mission and vision in our work and connect staff members to each other (in our digital workspace), Proteus Fund grantees, members of our Fiscally Sponsored Projects (FSPs) and to other stakeholders. Their expertise ranges from application development, database programming, web development, support, and training. IS team members are currently based in Massachusetts and Florida.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior IS Associate, Data & Systems Integration will be a vital member of the IS team, based in New York City. Focused on enhancing Information Services (IS) asset management strategies, the Sr. IS Associate will track IS assets throughout their lifecycle while applying a continuous improvement approach. They will be responsible for researching, designing, implementing, and managing data integration improvements using SQL at Proteus Fund, reporting to the Director, Information Services (IS), and working closely with the other Senior IS Associate. The Senior IS Associate, Data & Systems Integration will also provide general help desk and technical support to in-person (NYC Office-based) and remote employees.

While this role will have a host of general IS responsibilities, depending on their skillsets and/or interest, there is an opportunity to customize portions of this role’s focus in support of IS priorities. Outside of data integration, this may include opportunities to contribute to projects related to:

  • -Data Integration between multiple Proteus Fund platforms
  • -Document or video training of Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) for Proteus Fund employees

Key Responsibilities

Direct Data Integration Systems Implementation and Management (50-60%)

  • Maintain and assist in the design of database solutions to store and retrieve data efficiently
  • Design, implement, and manage data integration processes between different systems and platforms, being sure to document the transformation process
  • Monitor database and systems integration performance and optimize for ease of use and maximum efficiency

Training and Technical Assistance (20-30%)

  • Create easy to understand written documentation and training videos and assist with live and virtual trainings/webinars
  • Carry out help desk support in Microsoft 365 Office Suite and basic user administration
  • Support users with data transfers and file sharing while maintaining security and data integrity
  • Carry out all functions of troubleshooting process for onsite and remote users, from diagnosis to implementation of corrective action, to documentation in helpdesk database
  • Work directly with IS team members to resolve issues including but not limited to LAN, WAN, VPN, and special application issues

Research, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement (~10%)

  • Perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the department/organization’s needs
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in database management, system integration, and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Assist with basic website support, updates, and vendor coordination for larger design and/or development work

Asset Management (~10%)

  • Inventory of current technical materials
  • Cataloging and management of technology at Proteus, inclusive of in office technology resources
  • Software updates and related operating system viability checks, as needed
  • Partnering with the Director, IS to design asset management related systems and continuous improvement processes and design criteria for future asset selection, as needed through research and partnership with vendors, as required

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

While the Senior IS Associate, Data & Systems Integration will need to have the back-end skills to support the technical needs of the organization, it is imperative that they additionally have the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with various teams to determine and address their identified needs, differentiating training for individuals at various levels of technological skill.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • English Language fluency; advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Access to high-speed, high-quality internet
  • Computer Literacy with basic proficiency in personal computers (PCs)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related word and data processing software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Experience in cloud-based knowledge management systems (SharePoint, etc.), strongly preferred
  • A commitment to integrity and confidentiality
  • An openness to discussing/learning more about key areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in a work-place setting, including inclusive leadership and management best practices and the development and maintenance of an inclusive and safe work environment remotely (in digital workplaces) and in person (in physical workspaces)
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid work environment
  • Willingness to travel ~5-10%, inclusive of attending in person event(s) at least twice a year (i.e., annual All Staff Retreat, annual or bi-annual Team Retreats, etc.) with additional in person touch points by request (i.e., supervision meetings, board meetings, vendor meetings, conferences/panels, workshops, professional development opportunities, etc.)
  • A bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in Information Technology or equivalent discipline is preferred; A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree with a minimum working experience of 3 years in IT/ IS support

Additional requirements and experience include:

  • Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems
  • Experience in management and administration with cloud-based database platforms, including expertise in SQL (e.g., MySQL, Azure SQL Database)
  • Experience with securing integration scenarios using appropriate authentication, authorization, non-repudiation, and data encryption methods
  • Direct, hands-on experience with automated integration tools
  • Knowledge and experience with supporting Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Power Automate, and Teams
  • Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Comfortability with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and data manipulation tasks
  • Willingness to learn and intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, high-paced  environment

COMPENSATION

The budgeted salary for this role is $80 - $83K and is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set level, years of previous/applicable experience, and Proteus Fund's commitment to ensuring pay equity within the organization. The recruiting team will share more details regarding salary bands based on the candidate's specific geographic location as well as the other factors noted above. Salary is one part of the total compensation that Proteus Fund provides to employees.
